Git ‘er Done

its almost 4am. I need to finish my final paper for Information ethics by 3PM. Less than 12 hours. i won’t be able to work on it once I get to work, as I’ve been away for some time and I’m sure I’ll have a lot to do. I need three more pages before I can go to sleep. I have been working since 3pm, yesterday. I’m not even sure if the topic is appropriate.

This paper, a final on thursday and the reception are all that stand between me and some relaxation. No class this summer. We need some time off. If I can…just…make…it…to…thursday………………………………………

Update
Went to bed for an hour. Ability to think seems to have returned momentarily. Dream appears to have been a single loop of me setting a watch over and over again, until my radio went off loudly enough to wake up Dawn. Still trying to finish paper. Gotta be at work in 2 hrs.

Lettuce Milk Nightmare

I was in my kitchen, and I grabbed a carton of milk from the fridge. I took a drink then looked inside. Somehow the whole top was open, so I could peer directly in. Inside the carton, sticking out of what was left of the milk, was lettuce. I can’t remember if it was a head of lettuce or just a pile. Anyway, it was sitting there, amidst the milk. I thought, “eh, it doesn’t taste so bad, I guess I’ll ignore it.” I closed the lid and looked at the carton and it said something like “Garden Fresh Milk.”

Anti-dentite

I haven’t been to the dentist since right before I returned to Pitt after my little cancer spat. That was 1998. Today I went and it was like a different world. They took xrays which immediately showed up as high res images on a computer in the office, then they used a little camera about the size of my toothbrush and took high res pictures of each of my teeth. Very disturbing. They then tried to sell me whitening strips ($35 AFTER MAIL-IN REBATE!), cosmetic work and a tongue brush.

One cavity after 6.5 years of no dentist and no flossing. Not bad.

Twilight Conversation

The music of Roy Montgomery will probably be seen as a bit anomalous, a blip on the radar of the already tiny musical phenomenon- which someone is no doubt chronicling (and has chronicled) in great deal- known as New Zealand. He wood likely fall closer to the Dead C. side of the spectrum as opposed to say, the Clean side. I think he pretty much stands alone, though.

Though my favorite Montgomery album in terms of start to finish wholeness is probably Temple IV, Scenes from the South Island contains my favorite song- Twilight Conversation.

Weird stuff from your childhood

I completely forgot about this until a few days ago:

When I was a kid my brother once took me to a clubhouse a friend of his built underneath the visitor’s side bleachers of Harmon-Geist stadium in Hazleton. The area underneath the bleachers was filled with old desks and furniture from the Hazleton Area School District. In order to get to the clubhouse you had to climb and crawl over all this stuff until you were right near where the bleachers met the ground. There was a big stack of something, I can’t remember what, and if you looked hard enough you saw a little crawlspace amidst the desks. Inside you had to wedge your way in a few feet, and then it opened up into a little room full of cushions, a few girly posters and the like. The ceiling was so low you had to sit, and even then you had to hunch down. We went with this kid who was on the football team with Kema. Actually, I can’t remember if he was there or if Kema told me it was this kid’s. Anyway, a year or so later the kid brutally murdered his best friend.
